Herstyler 1" Titanium Hair Straightener

This was from a sale on Ozsale where I saved $200! I was wanting to buy a straightener to take traveling anyway, and when I saw I could get one, particularly the Herstyler Titanium hair straightener, for $50 I thought I may as well give it a go. I've only ever owned a Remington straightener before, and I've used GHD's quite a few times thanks to working in a salon. When I saw that it looked comparable to a GHD where I could easily curl as well as straighten, I didn't have much to lose.

It came in a gorgeous box with a magnetic lid, perfect for safe storage. There were a range of colours to choose from so of course I chose hot pink, although I have to admit it makes it look a lot cheaper then what it would do if it were black, and it had a couple of black marks on it from the packaging.

This straightener has 1 inch plates & rounded edges, perfect for the average sized curl. The actual plates are made from titanium which is more gentler on the hair & means it will help control frizz by producing negative irons, it is also designed to glide through the hair without pulling on it. My hair doesn't go too frizzy but usually if I tried to curl with a straightener I could never get it too smooth, which I have no problems with this, even for straightening my hair.
I'm not an expert at curling my hair with a straightening iron, but I have had a few tries with GHD irons before and a couple of goes with this, but so far I'd have to say it feels like the GHD glides through easier & creates a rounder curl, however they both have very similar curved edges. When/ If I curl my hair, I only do bits & pieces as that takes forever but I like the messy wavy look it gives!

This heats in around 30 seconds to 440 Fahrenheit (220 Celsius) which is extremely hot so make sure to apply heat protector products beforehand to avoid damage.

I also bought a stand to hold it in while using but it still gets really hot while the iron is in it, better then burning your counter!
I thought when I ordered it that Ozsale stated it was actually tourmaline, which I've found out has the same benefits as titanic plates, but I also thought it had a variable heat control as the manual mentions, but it only has an on/off switch, so that was a little bit disappointing, but in the end GHD's don't have that feature anyway & it's not a necessity, but if I had finer hair I wouldn't want it that hot!

Honestly when I need to buy a new straightener, I would probably go with GHD's especially if I want to feel "luxurious" while doing my hair. So I wouldn't pay full price for the Herstyler Titanium but it is a good buy if you see it on sale. I've had a look on the website, and I don't think it comes in other colours,so it must have been a special deal that Ozsale were doing.
It didn't turn out exactly how I wanted, but messy curls achieved with this straightener from this post.

This is $250 through Herstyler's website which is actually slightly cheaper than GHD. You can also buy the holder for $35 but once again mine was on special so I got it for $11 which I probably wouldn't pay more than that!

What is your favourite straightening iron?

Not a sponsored review, product was bought with my own money & this review is 100% my honest opinion.

Makeup & Hair Essentials Haul + more :)

When going to Perth for a weekend, one thing is guaranteed: Shopping! Since I don't get to do it too often I take advantage, and it had been a good 6 months since we last went up haha. I have named this my makeup essential haul since most of the makeup i bought is what I call "practical"- no fun eyeshadow's & lipsticks, but things I need. haha if you get what I mean.

I got all of this from Priceline. They have a huge section of this makeup brand called Models Prefer & I liked the look of their stuff & tested it a bit. Its reasonably priced too.
1: Models Prefer eyelash curler. I needed a new one badly, my other one didn't seem to fit the shape of my eye properly but this does. Review to come soon. I think I may just chuck all of the same brand into one big review lol.

2: Models Prefer brush cleaner. I've needed one of these for a very long time too. Unfortunately, when I got home I found the bottle didn't squirt properly :( So I have to open it & tip a tiny bit of it onto a paper towel when I want to use it. It still works fine & dries quickly, however I don't think you *need* to purchase a brush cleaner, as it only has 2 ingredients you could make it yourself: Isopropyl Alcohol & fragrance, even though it just smells like alcohol to me haha.
3:TRESemme heat protector spray. Just a back-up, if i ever run out of my other bottle haha
4+5:
Models Prefer Illuminator, Models Prefer Concealer in medium. The illuminator gives such a gorgeous glow to the skin. I'll let you know if I use it in a FOTD soon. I tried the concealer at the shop, It says its for fine lines (which I don't have.. yet) & for dark circles, but it felt really nice, the colour blended in & it isn't drying, which is important for me, so its a hit!

6:

Face Of Australia Eye Primers in Matte + Shimmer.
I've used these once, it did help bring out the 'matteness' or the shimmer in the eye shadow's, but it didn't last as long as TFSI does for me. I will bring you a proper review soon.

7: Bourjois E/S (04) & Blush (34 Rose D'or)

They had a special, buy one eyeshadow or blush from Bourjois & get the second one free (they are $20 each). Since I love my other blush I knew I wanted to get another one. I have also wanted the black e/s for ages, however I don't think they had it & it was hard to tell if this was black or not. It looks sort of purple,  & it has shimmers. I haven't used it properly yet but again I'll let you know when I do.

8: Glam Nails Nail Art pen in Hot Pink
I haven't used this properly except on semi dried nails so that didn't work too well lol but let me tell you it took soo long for any colour to come out. It says to press on your hand until it does, but I did it on my nail because the tip is soo sharp & eventually some came out. It also came with stencils so I'll use it with them to show you! I only got one colour to try it out but if I like it next time i'll buy more :)

Hair stuff
I also got these from priceline. The first one is a 3 in one curling set with a large curling barrel, small barrel & triple barrel (or deep waver). I have wanted a triple barrel for so long, but a few days before I got this I bought one on its own. Then when I saw this pack 2 days later for $10 less I knew I had to buy this, and try and sell my other one! If not I'm sure I can find someone to give it to, haha.
Models Prefer Travel Hair dryer + Straightener: This was another bargain for $22 & I have wanted one for a while, even though I don't travel that much, when I do it will save a lot of space in the luggage!

Rae Morris Express Makeup Book
As I was flicking through this book I wasn't going to get it, then when I saw how much I was saving, why the hell not?? As what someone said, even if I only read it once it will make a good coffee table book haha. But it has some good tips in it, even if I don't agree with *everything* haha

Novo Wedges

I saw these in the front display & knew I had to have them! They are gorgeous & so comfy, and they look so nice on.  A nice pair of wedges is definitely a staple!

So apart from that, I bought a lot of clothes, sandals & books, plus if you already read, I bought a laptop. I had to include a pic of the instructions it came with, I thought they were hilarious how simple & obvious they are that even a man can read them :P
Oh I almost forgot, I got these back home from Woolworths (supermarket). I haven't used my beloved Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion in so long due to trying other ones and I am really missing it, lol, so when I need more mascara I will be stocked for a little while.
They were only $10 instead of $18 which is what they usually are, so its a huge saving for me!!

So that's basically all the makeup & hair stuff I have bought recently to last me a while haha. Have you found any bargains lately you want to share?

Recently Bought Items

Ughh guys, I am so sorry for being so boring lately. :(
I don't have much time to do my makeup too exciting lately let alone take pics... I also haven't bought too much stuff lately.. but here's some things I have bought over the last 2 months

Chemist Haul (sorry for the bad pic!)... Lady Jayne Bristle brush, Lady Jayne small plastic hair ties, Swisspers Day Cream with SPF (I need a new day cream & this one smelt lovely, I'm liking it so far) & my HG Makeup remover wipes by Garnier.
On this website a while ago, http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/ they were having a huge sale for cosmetics, Revlon, Maybelline, L'oreal etc, they had some big bargains. I got this bronzing stuff, All About Glo for $19 instead of I think $39? Anyway I thought I had better stock up for summer, & also they were sold out of pretty much everything else haha) & in the spray bottle is "Rock Chick Wave  Spray"
Top- Pressed Bronzing Powder, Under that in that gold thing is loose bronzing powder.. which sounds scary haha, & then the next 2 are both called Mini Bronzing Brush. They are pretty much all the same but in different bottles. oh well, I will be ready to be warmed up for summer!
Rock Chick Wave spray, it has the same effect as a salt spray.

Cute Packaging!!

My Topshop products that I won from Heather Does Makeup Giveaway :D Lipstick in Showoff & Cream Blush in Head Over Heels. I still have to do a look that I like enough to post with these products!

Madd Style Cosmetics Drop Dead Fred Collection... took a little while to get here but I won these from Being Your Own Beauty, I have done a few looks with these yet to post but they are the most prettiest colours! Go here to see swatches done by Kristina

Something that I have wanted for a long time is a clip-less curling iron. I got this from Target for about $60, however when I bought it I didn't look at the shape or the name properly (Wave Magic... hmmm) but I like to make waves, & I've used it a few times since I've bought it & really like it!
It comes with a heat protective glove which I find makes it more difficult to use, and I always accidentally turn the little on/off button off so I have to select my heat again which is frustrating. But apart from that, no problems so far.

So that's about it,  apart from a few other things but I have had this post sitting as a draft for a while... not sure if I wanted to post it. ohwell!

Hope everyone had a good weekend, and I hope to get back on soon!!

Organisation, at last!! ~ Pic heavy + long post~

So finally I can breathe while I'm doing my makeup, as at last I have obtained a bigger & better way to store my (small but sweet) stash. Well, its not small compared to the average person, but I have seen some beauty's posted on the web. Anyway, I took some before pictures, to show you how I had been living ha ha. And of course, the after pictures.

Before you see anything, don't hesitate to click on the pictures to get a better look & also, it looks a lot worse then what it is because of the mirror (Ok yeah, it was a huge ball of clutter, but still...)

Everything, sitting on top of my dressing table.I need my space!!!
..Before..

I use a pencil organiser to hold my pencil eyeliners, lipliners, jumbo eye pencils and other colour stick bases. I keep my eye brushes in a white cup thing, I still want to find some little ball things that I can use to hold them upright that I don't need to buy online lol. Here is most of my lipsticks, kept in a very handy chocolate container. I don't know how I lived before I put them in here, but then I didn't own very many.

I keep my face brushes in a cosmetic bag.
Most used lip glosses/ balms, kept in a cute little bag which I wasn't sure what to use it for.
A few smaller palettes that I use often. Here is Stila x2, Sleek, Wet n Wild, and Bourjois.

Blushes kept in another couple of chocolate containers.

In the white hello kitty bag (hehe, that mum got from thailand a few years back) eye stuff,
Pink bag at the back, mostly face stuff, plus things I don't use too often & need to throw out!
Tiger print box underneath the pink bag, a random array of items that I forget about
Underneath the box in the container thing where I keep some concealer, foundation I don't use & my eye primer (I had to cut the end off of it lol but that's another story
I sit my bigger palettes (120, 88 warm, 28 neutral) & naked palette on top of the silver case.
Inside the silver case where I keep my e/s quads & such.
2nd shelf in the small bookshelf I have next to my dresser, forgotten lipglosses in the green bag, eyeliners just sitting there that I need to throw out (I am such a hoarder!!) some piggies in another choccy holder!! (these are from over the years, I promise!), in the pink easter basket is some NYX pigments, & in the back right corner is some eyelash stuff, & handy tape.

3rd shelf where I keep my hair accessories & brushes in a basket.

Holy molly I hope your computer is keeping up with all these pictures!! At long last we now come to....

Organized Clutter!!!

still a tad bit messy but looking better to me. I decided that I would still leave my brushes/ pencils/ lipsticks here because I use them all the time & I would only be moving them back & forth.
In my makeup bag, the essentials, & I mean it this time!

Pink bag, still a few things that need throwing out/ organizing
Why hello there! We got some new trolleys at work, & I was allowed to take an old one home!!
There are side bits that I can open out & they have a little indent on both sides that fits my holders in perfectly without them moving around! Perfect if I needed to move my trolley to do makeup. Still undecided what to put on the top though or if I should leave it so it looks neater.
Top drawer, starting from the top left basket & going clockwise : Bronzers & highlighters, & then a few extra face stuff, & then obviously my blushes. I will move these into more baskets since they will hold the blushes better.
2nd drawer, my palettes moved over.
3rd drawer, single eye shadows' sorted out into loose & pressed.... well, almost lol. However in the bottom left basket is my liquid & gel eyeliners (excluding the pink square thing, IDK how that got there). Baskets fit perfectly!! I wasn't sure if they would so I only got a few.

4th drawer, main eyelash stuff & tape. Still not sure what else to add, but I may add more of my eyelashes even though I don't use them too often.

5th drawer, hair brushes, clips, bumpits, & wave wand.

Temporarily next to the trolley atm on the ground is the same basket with my headbands & stuff.

Bonus pics!
Next to the trolley on top of my white drawers, among the mess is where I keep my nail polishes.
I keep my main/ new ones I use on top in a white box that got sent in the mail with nail polishes (thanks step MIL :)) Its a handy thing to keep them in, but not the prettiest lol.

Underneath that is some more nail stuff, that I should really go through haha.

So thank you for reading if you did (& I hope someone did 'coz that took me foreverrr *death glare*) hehe just kidding. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!! I'll be seeing you soon with more posts :)
